In 2020, Grupo +Unidos saw considerable growth as an organization. This year, it invested approximately R$ 8 million in social projects, directly benefiting more than 24,000 people. Of the projects carried out by the social investment fund, four were developed in partnership with the US Diplomatic Mission and another four resulted from agreements signed with the public sector. Aiming to celebrate its achievements and its organizational maturity, this Wednesday (4th), the group held its Ordinary General Meeting online, with the participation of Directors and other executives of associated companies.
The event was opened by Todd Chapman, US Ambassador to Brazil, and David Bunce, President of +Unidos Council, who acknowledged the presence of Adam Shub, US Consul General in São Paulo, and Ted Gehr, Director of the USAID Brasil, in addition to the representatives of each company.
In his speech, Ambassador Chapman said it was an honor to be able to participate in the event and renewed the commitment and institutional support of the US Embassy and USAID in Brazil to the partnership with Grupo + Unidos. “It is a pleasure to recognize the work done by the organization. Even in a year with many challenges, we had many opportunities to advance our projects and work together. Your contribution was fantastic and a light for many Brazilians, ”he said.
In turn, David Bunce welcomed the new member companies, GE do Brasil, Mercado Livre, Caterpillar Foundation, Instituto AIPI and Citi Brasil, which this year will officially form part of the Group’s support and governance bodies. Also, on the occasion, the CEO of GE do Brasil, Viveka Kaitila, was elected as Vice-Chairman of the Board and expressed that she sees the association as “an important support and connection network for American companies”. He also affirmed that GE has in its DNA the characteristic of supporting society and, therefore, has every interest in taking more concrete actions that make a difference in the country.
Finally, the current Executive Director of the organization, Daniel Grynberg, presented the financial summary of the organization, in addition to the relevant highlights for each current project. Then, Thiago Fernandes, Treasurer of the Management Committee and representative of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, closed the meeting, congratulating the executive team for their brilliant work and calling on companies to be increasingly participative and engaged in the group’s actions.
Thus, +Unidos asserts itself, once again, as a partner for the execution, implementation and planning of the projects of its associated companies. We increasingly want to be seen as a strategic organization for our growing number of members and continue to positively impact the lives of thousands of Brazilians.
