A program developed by the steelmaker Gerdau in partnership with the Besouro Institute takes entrepreneurship courses to young adults in Minas Gerais, encouraging them to open their own businesses. The course is online and to participate it is necessary to register on the project website, which offers 600 places.
Known as “Gerdau Transforma”, the initiative consists of free entrepreneurship courses based on the ByNecessity methodology, developed by Besouro, which has already been successfully applied in more than 11 countries.
The increase in income from stimulating the opening of the business itself is growing in Brazil. According to data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, the rate of entrepreneurship in the country reaches 38%, higher than in countries like China and the United States.
In Minas Gerais, the number is also expressive, with around 3.6 million entrepreneurs at an early stage, equivalent to 10% of entrepreneurs in Brazil.
The survey also shows that more than 90% of the population between 18 and 64 years old dreams of opening their own business. The ByNecessity methodology assists in this process by teaching the student the bases to set up a company, which includes opening a CNPJ, defining the target audience, in addition to the notions of profit, investment and cash flow.
Through simple and objective steps, the student reaches the end of the 30-hour course with the future business plan in hand.
A team trained by Besouro accompanies the students for the next three months to clarify any doubts that may arise and monitor the progress of the development stages of the former student’s company.
The method has already been taken to Europe and Africa, and has an effectiveness rate over 70%, that is, for every 10 businesses, seven are open and profitable.
