For the second consecutive year, the law firm Trench Rossi Watanabe won the best position in the “Guia Exame de Diversidade”, this time in the category “Best Company in Legal Services”. In the previous year, the recognition was in the category “Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)”, competing alongside companies of different activities. With this, the firm stands out again for its continuous performance in actions of diversity and inclusion, which involve ethnic-racial agendas, gender, LGBTI +, PCDs and religious tolerance, in addition to the maintenance of committees focused on volunteering, pro bono work and BGreen, focused on environmental responsibility.
The Guide lists the 52 companies that had the best performance by sector and by category (ethnic-racial, women, LGBTI + and PCD) based on a qualitative and quantitative research carried out in partnership with the Ethos Institute.
According to Anna Mello, partner and leader of the Banking Diversity and Inclusion Committee, this recognition represents the work’s validation and the firm’s commitment to building a more just and equal society. “In our office we already have these values in a very ingrained way, with our affinity committees, and we are a reference even for our clients in this regard, whether providing consultancy to them or bringing them to events to exchange experiences. However, our responsible role as a company with our values is to return these benefits in some way to the community “.
Also according to Anna, “this was reversed, for example, in campaigns such as ‘Combat on All Fronts’, which focused not only on providing our clients with information on legislative changes in times of pandemic, but also on mobilizing our entire team to get involved in social causes and to support victims of Covid-19 and less-favored communities. right way”.
It is worth remembering that, this year, the office received the “Municipal Seal of Human Rights and Diversity”, offered by the City of São Paulo, reinforcing its commitment to the theme and thus consolidating itself as one of the main newsstands in the country. diversity and inclusion practices.
The partner explains that strengthening a responsible organizational culture is one of the main tools for engaging the team in volunteer work. “In more than 60 years of operation of our office in the Brazilian market, Trench Rossi Watanabe has always had a very humanized streak and is connected to social issues, which makes it easier for us to have an open dialogue supported by different groups of the firm in our environment. We believe that the dynamism that we offer information about important topics, whether with different campaigns, events or communications, helps in this engagement, making this movement quite natural “.
Currently, the biggest challenge encountered by the firm is concentrated on ethnic committees. “We seek to bring more black professionals to the office, in addition to providing support to immigrants through corporate social responsibility work. We understand that this is not just an issue for our office, but a point of attention for the entire legal market, where we noticed a collective effort to create new opportunities and the attempt to repair historical errors, which is why we are in the project Incluir Direito, an association of several offices, led by CESA, with a total focus on this issue, in addition to the Legal Alliance for Equity Racial, an initiative that aims to promote racial inclusion and equity, of black and black professionals, in law firms and the legal market “, he concludes.
