Qualcomm, through its Qualcomm® Wireless Reach ™ initiative, MTM Tecnologia and ClearTech have joined forces to launch a free mobile application for Android and iOS devices, with the goal of facilitating secure blood donations across Brazil, during a COVID-19 pandemic. Partners are providing the app, which offers free connectivity to app users, in support of the “Green and Yellow Project”, an initiative by a group of Brazilian companies to encourage security donations during a current health crisis.
Blood banks around the world are facing blood shortages due to social isolation measures adopted to slow the spread of coronavirus. In Brazil, most blood centers operate without scheduling and their chairs for action are arranged side by side. This situation increases or increases the risk that many donors will approach the same time and wait together in confined spaces, or that it increases the possibility of transmission of COVID-19.
The Green and Yellow Blood Project is being coordinated by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), a Brazilian Association of Hematology, Hemotherapy and Cell Therapy (ABHH) and the São Paulo Medical Association (APM) for holding blood action events in this state. in football, where there is enough space to reduce or reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 between health professionals and professionals.
The Green and Yellow Blood Project will provide the mobile application, which will connect free of charge to blood donors who participate in these events. The application allows donors to receive alerts of action events, obtain information about the requirements for this and schedule appointments. Blood centers allow you to access a website that confirms donor schedules and sends messages to them.
The first blood action event is scheduled for May 26, 2020, with additional actions planned for the next three months at soccer stadiums across Brazil. Complete information about these events is available on the mobile platform.
