Steel producer Gerdau is open for enrollment in the company’s trainee program. All 11 vacancies are for newly graduated women engineers. There are two vacancies for Minas Gerais.
According to the company, the initiative aims to “take another important step towards gender equality” in Brazil. Registrations must be made through the website, until September 27. Applicants must have graduated between July 2018 and July 2020 and be willing to change if they do not live close to the unit.
In addition to the opportunities in Minas, there are vacancies in Pernambuco (1 vacancy), São Paulo (3 vacancies), Rio Grande do Sul (3 vacancies) and Rio de Janeiro (2 vacancies). Women from all over the country can participate in the selection.
According to Gerdau, the opportunities are geared to the industrial area, in the company’s operations in the states mentioned. Admission and start of activities are scheduled for November 2020.
The benefits offered by the company are private pension, medical and dental assistance, telemedicine, medication assistance, transportation or charter vouchers and meal vouchers or cafeteria (depending on the location).
Selective process
The selection process will have five stages, which will be carried out online: registration, behavioral questionnaire, logical reasoning tests, interviews with the company Cia de Estágios, in addition to panels and interviews with the participation of Gerdau leaders.
At the end of the online stages, the candidates will make a reconnaissance visit at the industrial unit closest to their place of residence, to avoid long distance travel amid the pandemic scenario. As it is not considered a prerequisite, English tests will not be applied during the selection.
“Over the course of 18 months, those selected will have the opportunity to participate in a development path, which involves technical and behavioral content to accelerate their training in topics such as business, security, leadership, routine management, projects and people. All the knowledge acquired will be put into practice in a challenge project, accompanied by mentoring from Gerdau’s leadership, “stated the company.
According to Gerdau, the company’s trainee program, called G. Future, is aimed at men and women, but guarantees 50% of the vacancies only for women. Currently, according to the company, 18% of the company’s leadership positions are held by women.
