Microsoft Brazil and Labor Ministry renewal partnership on workforce development:
more than 1.5 million people trained

In March 19th, Michel Levy and the Minister of Labor Carlos Lupi signed a partnership renewal on workforce development.

Through the partnership, MS will continue providing content and support for the Labor Ministry project to train unemployed people.  The content goes from Digital Literacy to S2B.  The signature was done during a graduation event of 800 people that participated in hospitality qualification, and were also trained in MS technology.

During his speech, the Minister of Labor said that all companies should follow Microsoft example by supporting initiatives like that.  Microsoft first signed this partnership in late 2005. Since then, we have been able to successfully renew it with the Brazilian Government.

The main objective of the government is to provide qualification for the family members that are receiving monthly financial support from the federal government under the project called “bolsa familia”. The government goal is to reduce the dependency of these families on Bolsa Familia by qualifying them to the labor market demand.

During the renewal process, we were also able to include the S2B content, which added a more technical content to it. In the past we were limited to the UP Curriculum and Digital Literacy. The S2B content will be used in the new qualification program focused on IT area. This project also involves the NGO Oxigenio which is the entity that actually executes the partnership between MS and the Labor Ministry.

The Executive Secretary of the Social Development Ministry Arlete Sampaio, the Executive Secretary of Labor Ministry Ezequiel Nascimento and the Special Advisor to the President’s Cabinet Selvino Heck, President of the NGO Oxigenio Marta Del Bello were also at the event, among other authorities.

As highlighted, this partnership has already trained more than 1.5 million unemployed people.   MS is supporting this initiative through the Community Affairs sponsorship that aims to support workforce development projects and through DPE support.
