Healthy Action: what does this mean to you? Far more than just a Program, this is a commitment for Kraft Foods, determined to upgrade the health and improve the quality of life of 160,000 children in schools in Curitiba, Paraná State and Piracicaba, São Paulo State, as well as Recife and Vitória do Santo Antão in Pernambuco State, together with their families and the communities where they live. 

This Program supports surveys and assessments of the health of these children through examinations and diagnoses, with treatment for parasites and anemia, in addition to participative classes on hygiene and nutrition.  Other educational activities include capacity-building sessions for teachers and kitchen workers, focused on alterations in eating habits and behaviors, the establishment of kitchen gardens in schools and the development of cleaning and recycling techniques designed to combat water and soil contamination. 

The main strategy is to turn children into agents of change, taking educational messages on health, nutrition, personal hygiene and environmental practices home to their families and communities. 

This Program is the outcome of a partnership with INMED Brazil, backed by the support of the Nutrition Education and Recovery Center (CREN).
