The objective of the CDI (Comitê para a Democratização da Informática / Committee for Democracy in Information Technology), sponsored by ExxonMobil since 1999, is to promote social transformation of low-income communities in Brazil and Latin America.
The objective of the CDI (Comitê para a Democratização da Informática / Committee for Democracy in Information Technology), sponsored by ExxonMobil since 1999, is to promote social transformation of low-income communities in Brazil and Latin America. In September 2007, ExxonMobil, CDI and Casa de Artes do Terreirão (CAT) inaugurated an Information Technology Center in Terreirão, Rio de Janeiro. The multipurpose facility contains an EIC, a computer assembly and maintenance workshop, and a cyber cafe open to local residents. In the year 2009, 186 students completed a course on assembly and maintenance of computers offered at the Casa de Artes Terreirão and sponsored by ExxonMobil.
