In 2009 GE completed 90 years of operation in Brazil. To celebrate the date, the Campaign 90 Thousand: Three Ideas, Ninety Thousand Actions was developed. Such campaign was divided into three pillars: education, health, and volunteer performance.
In the case of education, which was the basic pillar of the first half of the year 2010 campaign, the objective was to collect 90 thousand books to be donated to NGOs and public schools in different regions in Brazil. In four months, 104 thousand books were collected, of which more than 20 thousand have already been distributed.
In this semester, the focus of the campaign is health. The objective is to raise 90 thousand kilos of food and distribute them to partnering NGOs.
The third pillar refers to volunteering, which has always been an important issue at GE, as part of the strategy of the company’s corporate social responsibility worldwide. The challenge is to add up 90 thousand hours of volunteer work.
