MAMIRAUÁ RESERVE - From January 8 to 10, 25 youth from the cities of Tefé and Fonte Boa, located in the Mamirauá environmental reserve in the state of Amazonas, participated in a workshop on valley life in a flood plain.
The initiative, supported by USAID, ExxonMobil
and the Brazilian NGO Sociedade Civil Mamirauá, is part of the preparatory phase of an environmental education and awareness documentary. The documentary will be produced by local youth and will have participation and testimonials from three generations of inhabitants of the Mamirauá reserve (youth, adults and elders).
During the workshop, conducted by the professors Edna Alencar and Edila Moura and communicators Thiago Figueiredo and Marco Lopes,
participants had the opportunity to reflect upon the history and life in the Amazon flood plain, particularly in the Mamirauá reserve, and on various other themes that will be explored in the interviews for the documentary.
