SÃO PAULO - On September 30 the +Unidos Group held its General Assembly meeting at the São Paulo AMCHAM. Over 60 people were present at the meeting including directors of +Unidos participant companies, partner NGOs and institutes, and high level visitors from United Way worldwide. The event featured presentations, lectures and discussions of themes of general interest and new opportunities for partnership.
Gilberto Dimenstein, a well known journalist of Folha de São Paulo, made a presentation about his Bairro-Escola project, which is already supported by some of the companies that participate in the +Unidos Group.
Michele Vanzella showcased the new strategic partnership between +Unidos and TVSA to present reports about social responsibility activities of the Group and its participants.
Márcio Godoy and Karina Ruffo, from the Institute Pro-Project Movement talked about their recently launched book, "103 Tips: What every company needs to know about tax incentive laws". The book, which was freely distributed to all participants of the meeting, details best practices in utilizing both U.S. and Brazil financial incentives for corporate social responsibility programs.
The President of United Way worldwide, Mr. Brian Gallagher, celebrated the successful partnership between +Unidos and United Way Brazil and delivered a speech highlighting the need for a new social contract between businesses and the society where they operate. Mr. Gallagher also emphasized that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is simply doing good business, not just for publicity but in order to develop loyalty with the stakeholders. CSR improves the branding of the company. Long term corporate success is based on endurance in addressing these critical issues.
Finally, +Unidos communication consultants Solange Barreira and Fabiana Pereira presented the results of external medial outreach initiatives conducted during the visit of Jean-Michel Costeau on September 30, and the CSR Celebration at the Ibirapuera Park on August 1.
